How to brew it
  • 212°F / 100°C
  • Steep 5–7 minutes COVERED
  • Use 1–2 tsp per 8oz
  • Covering traps the volatile oils that carry most of the flavour

212°F / 100°C — Steep 5–7 minutes COVERED (critical — linalool evaporates rapidly) — Use 1/2–1 tsp per 8oz (less is more) — Breathe in the steam while steeping — Blends beautifully with chamomile

Beyond the cup

The gentle one. Traditionally used for anxiety, restlessness, and sleep support. Lavender works through both the sip and the scent — the aromatic compounds you breathe in while drinking are as important as what you swallow. Steep 1–2 tsp for 5–8 minutes covered, and take a moment to breathe it in before your first sip. Remarkably safe — no known interactions, no grogginess.

Good for

When you can't sleep

  • Traditionally used in herbal medicine to help relieve restlessness and nervousness
  • Traditionally used to help relieve headache and to help promote sleep
  • Floral and heady — a little goes a long way; naturally caffeine-free
  • The cup you smell before you drink
What the research looked at

Promotes deep relaxation and reduces anxiety through linalool's GABA modulation (inhale the steam)
Supports healthy sleep quality as part of a bedtime ritual
Mild anti-inflammatory through rosmarinic acid (well-extracted into tea)
Traditionally used for nervous headaches and tension
Gentle enough to combine with chamomile and passionflower for enhanced calming

What it goes with

Lavender and chamomile are the classic relaxation duo — they calm through completely different pathways. Blend them together and add a Cinnamon Stick for the perfect wind-down ritual. Our Vanilla Bean adds natural sweetness and its own gentle calming effect.

Also in these blends

On its own, this is the straight thing. It also goes into these blends, each made for a different evening. Read about Lavender →

Always handy

I use dillweed often. This dill is fresh and has a nice aroma. I use it in marinades, salad dressings, and on fish. Good stuff.
