What’s in itmarjoram leaf
How to use it
Crush whole leaves between your fingers and scatter over finished dishes — potatoes, roasted vegetables, grilled chicken. Add to vinaigrettes and marinades where the leaf pieces add visual texture. Simmer in soups and stews, or toss into bouquet garni. Grind in a mortar when you want fresh ground marjoram at peak potency. The sausage herb. Mix a teaspoon into every pound of ground pork or breakfast sausage. Stir into mashed potatoes, cream sauces, and mushroom dishes. The gentler choice when oregano would be too bold. Essential in German and Central European cooking — dumplings, stuffing, liver dishes.
