Beyond the cup

Relief for period days. Vitex berry is the star — it's the most clinically studied herb for PMS, working on the hormonal balance that drives the whole mess. Dandelion and nettle tackle the bloating and water retention while lemon balm takes the edge off the mood swings. This isn't a quick fix — give vitex 2–3 full cycles to really kick in. Best as a daily cup through your whole cycle, not just during symptoms. Steep 10 minutes.

What’s in it

Every herb in the blend, and where to read about it on its own.

    Rosehips

    Rosa canina

The fruit of the wild rose, containing 20 to 40 times more vitamin C than oranges in its fresh form. Here's the catch: most of that vitamin C degrades during drying and steeping. What the tea actually delivers is proanthocyanidins — water-extractable tannin antioxidants —...

    Lemon Balm

    Melissa officinalis

The herb with the highest rosmarinic acid concentration among all Lamiaceae — and rosmarinic acid extracts brilliantly into water. This means lemon balm tea delivers genuinely pharmacological doses of a compound that inhibits GABA-transaminase (prolonging calming GABA activity) and inhibits acetylcholinesterase (supporting cognitive function). It's...

    Raspberry Leaf

    Rubus idaeus

The traditional women's herb — generations of midwives reached for raspberry leaf, and its reputation rests on that long tradition rather than on trial evidence, which remains limited. It is a nutritive leaf, rich in minerals and tannins, and it tastes far more like a...

    Dandelion Leaf

    Taraxacum officinale

The humble lawn 'weed' with legitimate diuretic properties — European herbalists have called it 'piss-en-lit' (wet the bed) for centuries, and the nickname is earned. Unlike pharmaceutical diuretics that deplete potassium, dandelion leaf naturally contains high potassium levels, potentially offsetting losses. The leaf is mineral-rich...

    Nettle

    Urtica dioica

The nutritive powerhouse that stings you on the way in and nourishes you once it's in the cup. Nettle leaf is one of the most mineral-dense herbal teas available — rich in iron, calcium, magnesium, and silica. Its quercetin content provides mast-cell stabilizing activity (the...

    Vitex (Chasteberry)

    Vitex agnus-castus

The most evidence-based herb for premenstrual syndrome. Vitex works through a unique dopaminergic mechanism: casticin and other flavonoids bind dopamine D2 receptors in the pituitary gland, reducing prolactin secretion. This downstream cascade normalizes the estrogen-progesterone ratio, addressing PMS symptoms at their hormonal root. Multiple systematic...

Good for

For the long term

  • Traditionally used in herbal medicine to help relieve menstrual cramps and the bloating that comes before a period
  • Raspberry leaf and chamomile — two herbs herbalists have long turned to in the days before
  • Naturally caffeine-free
  • The monthly cup, from a few days out

These teas are foods, sold as such. Nothing on this page is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

What it goes with

Stack the anti-inflammatory support. Our Turmeric Ground addresses cramp-related inflammation through a different pathway than what's in the cup. Our Fennel Seeds are the traditional herbalist's go-to for menstrual cramps — anethole relaxes smooth muscle. A pinch of our Black Pepper Ground helps everything absorb better.

Always handy

I use dillweed often. This dill is fresh and has a nice aroma. I use it in marinades, salad dressings, and on fish. Good stuff.
