What’s in itcaraway seed
How to use it
The rye bread essential. One tablespoon per loaf. Also the star of sauerkraut, coleslaw, and Hungarian goulash. Mix into potato salad or roasted carrots for something unexpected. A little goes a long way — carvone is potent. Whole seeds release flavor slowly during baking — you get little bursts of warmth with every bite. Toast dry for 30 seconds to wake them up before adding to potato salad or roasted root vegetables.
What it goes with
Rye bread and roasted tea are natural friends. Brew our Genmaicha alongside anything you'd season with caraway — the toasty rice in the tea matches the bready warmth of the spice. Our Hojicha works the same way.
